Denise Simmons

Welcome!

THANK YOU, CAMBRIDGE!

Denise is thrilled to have won her re-election to a 12th term on the Cambridge City Council on November 7, 2023 - and to have secured a third term as Mayor of Cambridge

This term, Denise vows to continue her commonsense advocacy, her excellent constituent services, and her pragmatic, down-to-earth approach as a policy maker and as a champion for those whose voices might otherwise go unheard in City Hall.

Denise has served long and honorably on the City Council, working not just to raise issues, but to actually get results. And with three new city councilors joining for the 2024-2025 Council term, her voice and her experience are needed now more than ever.

In addition to helping the City recover from the worst of the Covid-19 crisis, Denise has continued ensuring that critical City business -- such as the passage of the historic citywide Affordable Housing Overlay, keeping community members apprised of public safety concerns, and establishing the process that led to the selection of our next City Manager -- have moved forward in spite of the hurdles posed by the pandemic. And she has worked on quality of life issues, including working to establish a museum to house and promote the City's rich, vibrant history.

“I remain staunchly committed to being a forceful advocate for the people I represent," says Denise. "I've never been focused on making the most noise, grabbing the most headlines, or shouting the loudest; I've been much more focused on solving problems, building bridges, and making sure the city is governed wisely. That’s what I do, it’s what I’ve always done, and it’s what I shall continue doing in my third term as Mayor. Now let's get to work!”
